Jeffrey A. Hansen

Jeff Hansen, founder of Blue Heron Group, has over 18 years experience in the asset management industry and nearly 22 in the assessment of management practices. He has worked extensively in the US, Japan, Australia, and Singapore.

Prior to founding Blue Heron in 1999, Jeff was with Frank Russell Company for 13 years. From 1995 through 1999, he was the Director of International Management Consulting. Jeff initiated this business within Russell and worked with some of the world's most highly regarded financial services companies to improve the strength and sustainability of their asset management activities.

Jeff was named Frank Russell Japan's first Director of Consulting in 1991. Jeff adapted Russell's three main consulting activities (pension consulting, manager evaluation, and performance measurement) to the Japanese market. He initiated the business strategy that was successful in signing six of the ten largest corporate pension funds in Japan as Russell clients. He also developed the practices that would be central to Russell's management consulting business.

From 1986 through 1991, he served in Russell's manager research group and focused on quantitative managers, US market-oriented managers, and troubled managers.

Prior to joining Russell, Jeff worked at J. P. Morgan Investment Management and developed JPMIM's strategy for marketing to the public pension market. He also worked at the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System.

Jeff's book, Mastering Business Growth and Change Made Easy, is based upon his award-winning research on the management strategies of venture capital-backed businesses. It was published by Entrepreneur Press in 2005. This book is an updated and expanded version of his book Surviving Success, which was first published in 1998. Jeff has also authored articles appearing in the Japanese Financial Analyst Journal and other publications on investment matters and managing growth and change.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from Whitworth College and a Master of Management from Willamette University.
